Science-Backed, Safe, and Effective:

SPRAVATO® helps restore neurotransmitter connections and improve cell signal facilitation, providing relief from depressive symptoms.

What is SPRAVATO®

SPRAVATO® is a medication used by those with a depressive disorder who have not responded sufficiently to other forms of depression treatment. Molecularly, It is half of the molecular composition of a well-known anesthetic, the s-isomer, hence the name S-enantiomer. This anesthetic has been FDA-approved for over 60 years. In the early 2000s, researchers began demonstrating it's rapid-acting antidepressant effects when provided intravenously in small doses.

SPRAVATO®, on the other hand, is administered as a nasal spray and must be provided with an oral antidepressant. It is self-administered but only under the direct supervision of a licensed medical professional in a clinical setting. Spravato is typically given two times per week for the first month, followed by once a week ongoingly for maintenance treatment.

About Phillip Romero, MD

Nushama’s senior psychiatrist, Dr Phillip Romero, and his team of advanced practitioners have specialized education and training in mental health treatments. Our philosophy is that people were not put on this planet to suffer and there are a myriad of treatment modalities available to help people navigate the human experience.

Sometimes a little medicine goes a long way. Sometimes it is important and needed. We do feel that on occasion, the additional side effects of certain medications outweigh the benefits that they provide.

Once the diagnosis has been made through careful evaluation, then it can be decided if medication is needed – and in what amounts over what period.
